Putting the Needs of Children First
Since the dawn of South Africa’s democracy in 1993, TLC Ministries has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable children. Founded by the visionary efforts of Thea Jarvis and her family from their suburban home, our journey began as a registered Children’s Home, facilitating the placement of nearly 1000 foundling babies into loving forever families. Our enduring commitment has always been to put the needs of children first.

Evolving to Meet Changing Needs
As the landscape of child welfare evolved, so too did the role of TLC. To uphold our primary value of “keeping Children First,” TLC now operates as a registered preschool (Early Childhood Development Centre), providing responsive nurture for children from families in crisis. Our program interventions are grounded in trauma-informed methodologies, including conscious discipline and attachment parenting, ensuring holistic support for every child in our care.
A New Chapter: Embracing the Village
After more than 30 years of dedicated service as a stand-alone Non-Profit, TLC Ministries has entered a new chapter, coming under the umbrella of Embrace Village. This pioneering, community-driven Non-Profit, registered by the directors of TLC, was established to foster a more sustainable model that supports income-generating initiatives. This strategic partnership allows us to continue our vital work with children while building a resilient and interconnected community.

Within our centre, we are dedicated to strengthening children through intentionally scaffolded support, learning, and training. Simultaneously, as part of Embrace Village, we are weaving strong connections between various community members to create a healthy, integrated environment where every group is supported and uplifted.
